What is 14 Karat Gold-Filled Wire?
Gold-Filled wire is created using a thick coating of 14k gold bonded by heat and pressure around a core of brass. Gold filled is much thicker than gold-plated or vermeil, more durable and looks more “solid”.
Note about GF Rings: Rings worn frequently will work harden and wear. It takes many years to notice this and 14K gold-filled is no exception. Over the course of years, you may wear through the 14K gold layer, revealing the brass on the inside. This is the reality of using gold-filled on rings…and we are good with it….because you just cannot beat the value when compared to solid gold.
What is Argentium sterling silver?
Most of the sterling silver used at Flux33 is called Argentium sterling. This new formulation of sterling is:
- Substantially more tarnish-resistant
- Brighter in color
- More hypoallergenic
- Made completely from recycled scrap
Please watch this short video to learn more………………
It is not in the video, but the metal they add is called germanium: a very light colored and bright metal with hypoallergenic properties. They use only a tiny fraction, but it is enough to change the quality of the metal. Germanium is an element like gold and silver and can be found on the periodic table.
Do you take special orders?
We do not take special orders at this time. However, adjustments can be made to suit your tastes and needs regarding surface (high shine or, oxidized), swap stones, swap metal, adjust size and length etc.

Ashland is home to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the longest-running Shakespeare festival in the United States. She sets up along Ashland Creek, downtown. You will find her booth near 57 N Main Steet, near the Mix-Bakeshop.
If you are coming to town and want to visit, please contact Holly by email and she can tell you her next market date. You can also follow her on Facebook where she usually will post if she is doing a market date.
Please check the Events page for other events and happenings.
How did you come up with the name Flux33?
Flux’s are mineral substances used in making jewelry and pottery (Holly is also a potter). Fluxes are used to lower melting points and make things flow. The processes and work are always evolving and in a state of flux at Flux33, so “flux” is just an awesomely descriptive word.
The 33 is Holly’s old employee number and nickname from when she was a bike messenger in Portland Oregon back in the 90’s. She still answers to this nickname and the more formal, “Unit 33”.
